Florence - ITALY – November 27th 2009The Governemt councilor Paolo Cocchi, the Minister of Tourism Michela Vittoria Brambilla (that participate over the phone, due to urgent government cabinet), the columnist on the national newspaper Il Sole 24ore Riccardo Chiaberge, the architect David Fisher, the manager Paolo Fresco, former Vice Chairman of GE and President of Fiat, and Aldo Schiavone, director of the Italian Institute of Human Sciences, participated to the roundtable focused on the theme “ Tuscany as life choice”.
David Fisher that after finishing his studies at the school of architecture, made Florence his home where he lives since forty years, is one of these international figures that were so intrigued by the City of Renaissance, made it to be his home for life.
In fact, Fisher explained that as a young artist, twenty years old, he decided to come over to Florence to study architecture because “where do you study architecture if not in the centre of art?” but it was the confrontation with the renaissance that brought him to go toward technology, mainly when he understood that Florence was not only art but also science…..”not only Botticelli but also Leonardo, not only Giotto but also Galileo…” in fact, he was inspired by Brunelleschi and his dome that its beauty is a result of engineering logic…..
He focuses his keynote speech on the future of architecture, reminding the audience of the imagination and of the genius of the Tuscany region.
When people ask me how come the tower of the future was born in the city Renaissance…..I answer: “only where there is history there is also future…”
The conference core event was for launching the new institutional web marketing communication campaign promoted by the Tuscany Region.
