7th La Baule World Investment Conference

La Baule – France – 3rd-5th June 2009
7th La Baule World Investment Conference
Attracting investment, talent and innovation to Europe is the core target of the World Investment Conference.
The theme in 2009 was: "Investing in Global Cities: Opportunities in Adversity".
The first La Baule World Investment Conference was held in 2002, and the event has taken place annually ever since. The success of the first six World Investment Conferences, organized with the support of the European Commission, has won recognition as a forum for high level debate bringing together more than 1,000 global business leaders, top European officials, academics and experts from around the world.
Experience shows that it is an excellent opportunity to present new input and to design concrete proposals for enhancing European attractiveness and boosting Investment, talent, technology and innovation. Experience shows, too, that the Conference is an ideal marketplace for policymakers and investors seeking opportunities, innovation and partnerships. On this occasion, Ernst & Young, the engine behind this conference,  announced the results of its annual survey of the attractiveness of Europe and its regions.
David Fisher delivered his speech about the “City of the Future” that according to him will be a combination of cloisters, where people will live and work, creating new social life, in a way going back to past time.
The “City of the Future” of the Florentine visionary architect, will be a version of green countryside, where all transportation, public and private, will be underground, allowing green landscaping between the buildings, offering environment better values and allowing easier social life among people.
Tall buildings will allow open space in the cities of the future, leaving more green landscaping. This may satisfy those that find low rise towns to be a better social solution, not understanding that single homes occupy
The event was promoted through the presentation of two celebrities, The President and CEO of General Electric Jeff Immlet and David Fisher having both photos on the home page of the event.
